"Land of the free, because of the brave" -- These were the words embroidered on the blankets we had the opportunity to make in September 2021 to donate to the 13 families who lost their loved one in Afghanistan in the Kabul attack in August. One of the things we discussed as a family when starting Threads by Gram was that anytime we had the opportunity and could do it we would donate to our troops. We are extremely grateful for the women and men who fight for our country and our truly blessed that these men and women put their lives on the line for us and for some make the ultimate sacrifice.
The blankets were made of an ivory and red luxe minky from Shannon Fabrics who was an amazing contributor for this donation. We needed more fabric and I decided to write a note in my order about what we were doing and not only did they ship our order for free, but they included additional yardage, which was such a nice surprise.
My mom (aka Gram) had a great idea to make a USA patch and we included a patch for each family. We also have these available now in our shop and will be donating $2 for each USA patch purchased to the Wounded Warrior Project.
We feel truly blessed to be able to give to these families in such a trying time and we hope they enjoy the blankets for many years to come remembering their loved one.
